Rubies Masquerade will work with Warner Bros. to release a range of DC children and adult costumes into the Australian market – adding to Rubies’s already extensive profile of Warner Bros brands.
Rubies will now represent popular Warner Bros. properties including DC Originals, Green Lantern (both the movie and animation), Batman: The Brave and the Bold and the new Batman movie scheduled for release in 2012.
Along with Australia, the deal also includes New Zealand and will involve the mass market and independent distribution channels.
The first range will be available from 1 January 2011 at all major retailers and a wide range of independents.
Rubies Masquerade General Manager Sales and Marketing, Tony Bugg, said he is excited by the opportunity to partner with Warner Bros. and expand the company's line of licensed character costumes.
“We are excited about including iconic Warner Bros. characters within our range. It could not have come at a better time as we look to expand our presence in the local market,” he said.
Warner Bros. Consumer Products Senior Manager Hard Lines, Kelly Leon, said one of their goals for the future is to continue to extend their footprint in the dress-up market.
“Costumes are an important part of our business and we plan to take advantage of the extensive range of Rubies product across children’s and adult costumes,” she said.
WBCP Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Preston Kevin Lewis said: “There has always been a demand for Warner Bros. character costumes and it is expected to stay strong with our evergreen as well as theatrical superhero product. The new Green Lantern movie will add significantly to that demand in 2011.’’
